Montgenèvre is small. From our flat, the slopes, the ski school, the rental shops, the supermarket and the bakery were all a couple of minutes away. Here is our map of the village.
Two bedrooms plus a sofa bed in the living room, so up to 6 people. At the foot of the slopes, with a pool, a kids club and our own kitchen. We got 20% off by booking early.

What we paid for Christmas week 2025, and a rental simulation for December 2026 since we had our own skis.
Start with the ski pass: the 6-day one comes with extras most people never use.
With a 6-day pass you get 4 hours of skiing for free on arrival day. Arrive on Saturday early enough and you're on the slopes before your pass even starts.
The 6-day pass includes two days on the whole Via Lattea, 400+ km across France and Italy, plus one free day in another Grand Ski Galaxy resort. Plan those days in advance.
Coming from Paris, the Fréjus tunnel costs 56.40€ one way for a car, or 70.40€ return if you come back within 7 days. Stay 8 days like we did and you pay two one-way tickets: 112.80€.
We booked the MMV flat early and got 20% off. A hybrid we loved: kids club and activities, but your own kitchen, cheaper than all-inclusive.
Rental shops show a web price far below the store price. For our dates, the Intersport blue pack was about 95€ online against 139€ in store.
Ski over to Clavière for lunch. The food is better and cheaper than on the French side.
We wanted a ski week where Noah could learn, have fun and make friends, and where nothing would be a headache for the adults. Montgenèvre ticked every box. Easy access without a car, good snow, reasonable prices and a relaxed family atmosphere.
It's calmer than the big famous resorts, on the slopes and in the village, so less queuing and more space. Lots of easy greens and blues for a kid, and if you want more, the Via Lattea opens up one of the biggest ski areas in the world.
Our favourite part was the Italian side. Fresh powder on Christmas morning, lunch in Clavière, and that feeling of skiing into another country. If you have the same criteria as us, give it a try.
